Request MS365 Refresh Token

To log on to Microsoft Exchange, you need an access token. This is automatically generated when logging on to Microsoft Exchange. For security reasons, access tokens are only valid for approx. 1 hour. After that, a new access token is generated automatically. This is done by the refresh token. You must request this manually in the Connector for Microsoft Exchange on the Exchange Account tab. You must do this for the user you use when creating the data source ().

You also need to request it for the additional users you use in applications and processes ().

The refresh token is stored in the MediaGateway. It is valid for three months. The token must then be manually requested again.

Step-by-step guide

To request an MS365 Refresh Token, follow these steps:

  1. Start the "Integration" module.

  2. Navigate to "Consume Data > Connector for Microsoft Exchange".

    The right pane displays the new data source.

  3. Select the new data source.

  4. Press ENTER or right-click and select "Edit" from the context menu.

    The "Edit data source" dialog box is displayed.

  5. Switch to the "Exchange Account" tab.

    When creating a new data source, the dialog will look like this:

  6. Click on "Request MS365 Refresh Token".

    The "Request MS365 Refresh Token" dialog box is displayed.

  7. Copy the displayed code to the clipboard and paste it into the Microsoft login page ().

    You can also open the Microsoft login page in the browser ().

  8. Click on "Next".

    The next dialog box is displayed.

  9. Enter the email address you use to log in to Microsoft Exchange.

  10. Click on "Next".

    The next dialog box is displayed.

  11. Enter the password.

  12. Click on "Log in".

    The next dialog box is displayed.

  13. Click on "Next".

    The next dialog box is displayed.

    The refresh token is generated and stored in the MediaGateway.

    You will automatically return to the dialog

    The text "Request MS365 Refresh Token" is displayed in gray font and can no longer be clicked.

    The MS365 Refresh Token is stored in the Media Gateway and is used to generate access tokens.

    The MS365 Refresh Token is valid for 90 days. After that period, it must be regenerated in the way described here.

Request refresh token for additional users

Step-by-step guide

To request a refresh token for additional users, do the following:

  1. Switch to the "Additional users" tab.

  2. Click on the icon.

    The "Additional users" dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select an Intrexx user and assign a Microsoft Exchange user to them.

  4. Click on "Request MS365 Refresh Token".

    Now proceed as described above, starting with the step Click on "Request MS365 Refresh Token"..
